STIGA DNA Medium vs Hard: what changed on the same blade?

Original source: 2021-03-09 · Khaleel Asgarali

Khaleel tested the two rubbers on a STIGA Offensive Classic so the comparison used the same blade. The useful difference in this short review is the trade-off between a cushioned touch and a more direct attacking response.

Medium: softer contact and pushes

The Medium felt very soft relative to Khaleel’s usual equipment. He liked the control, higher arc and cushioned contact, particularly for pushes. The drawback was losing some impact when trying to hit harder. He suggested it for more passive or defensive play and some developing players.

Hard: his preference for attacking

Khaleel preferred Hard for attacking strokes. On pushes, however, he felt less grip and described the ball as sliding. That makes the choice dependent on the shots you need, rather than simply buying the harder rubber as an upgrade.

Match the original version

This review concerns the original DNA Medium and Hard shown in 2021. A newer DNA Platinum listing is a different product. We have not carried the old Hard purchase link into this article because it now opens a Platinum M listing; the old Medium listing was unavailable when checked.
